Steve Bablitch most recently served as an executive in the health care field and has a unique combination of business, government, and legal experience spanning his career. Steve retired in 2016 from his positions as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administration Officer, and Chief of Strategic Business Affairs at Aurora Health Care (Milwaukee, WI). Previously, Steve served as the CEO and Chairman of Wisconsin’s largest health insurer, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, where he also held roles as Secretary and General Counsel.
During the administrations of Governor Tommy Thompson and Governor Jim Doyle, Steve was tapped to serve as Secretary of the Department of Corrections and then as the Secretary of the Department of Administration. Steve got his start as a prosecutor for the Dane County District Attorney’s Office in Madison after earning his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Steve has served on several industry and non-profit boards including the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, University of Wisconsin Hospital Authority, the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, The University of Wisconsin Madison Letters and Science Board of Visitors, and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Wisconsin Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
